Tena taatou katoa!!

I wish to acknowledge you all for the interest you have shown toward the Mana Movement, it is through your support that our future in Aotearoa will look brighter and more positive for our people and most importantly for our mokopuna.

This email is to invite you all to join us in a local hui which will be hosted by Mana Rangatahi from the Hauraki-Waikato region.  The important details are as follows:

Date:  Tuesday 30 August 2011
Venue: Te Whare o Te Ata/ 60A Sare Cres, Fairfield
Time: 6:00pm - 8:00pm (sharp)
Chairperson: Maria Rahui (Hauraki-Waikato interim Rangatahi Rep)
We will be having a shared kai.

An Evening with a Shack-dwellers’ Movement Leader

S’bu Zikode has been President of the Abahlali baseMjondolo Movement in South Africa since 2005. ABM is the largest organisation of the poor in South Africa and campaigns for housing, water and electricity supplies for the poorest South Africans.

When: Saturday September 3.

Where: Te Whare o Te Ata (Fairfield/Chartwell Community House), 60A Sare Crescent, Fairfield, Hamilton.

Schedule: 5.30pm Kai: Soup & Bread, 6.30 John Minto, 7.00 S’bu Zikode (8.30pm finish).

Cost: Koha / $2 unwaged.

MANA AGM
6TH August 2011

Tena koutou katoa.

Today has been a great day for MANA and an even better day for Aotearoa.

We've had people travel up from all round the country, and we're rolling
on to the General Election in November, with a simple message - MANA
will go into the election as the free and independent voice for Maori, for
workers and for the poor in this country.

Our research tells us that if every poor person in this country voted
for MANA we would capture half the seats in Parliament, and we intend doing
our best to give those people the voice they deserve.

MANA represents a newer, more honest, and more principled way of doing
politics.

National Mana AGM, Saturday 6 August 2011

Held in Te Atatu, West Auckland, this hui confirmed all of our political aspirations, introduced some premium candidates that are keen to stand for both general and Maori seats and allowed for a parallel rangatahi hui to take place to strategize on capturing our youth's vote.  


It was a priviledge to be surrounded by some of our more notable, inspirational and intelligent leaders from both Maoridom and  te ao Pakeha.  None more so than Annette Sykes, Hone Harawira, John Minto, Sue Bradford, Veronica Tawhai and our very own Angeline Greensill.  It was encouraging and pleasing to hear from representatives of the separate electorates updating us all on the progress made in their areas and the creative ideas flowing for campaigning the Mana kaupapa.  


Mana Ikaroa/Rawhiti are selling a bucket of mutton-birds at $20.00 p/ticket - you can go to the 'Te Mana o Kahungunu' facebook page if you're keen to buy one and leave a message.  This was an awesome hui that contained the energy and passion needed to get stuck into doing some real mahi back in Hauraki-Waikato.

Congratulations to Angeline Greensill - Interim Chair.

Ange was elected at the hui UNOPPOSED  and brought with her quality at its best.
WHO BETTER THEN ANGELINE TO LEAD US!

Thanks to all the Waikato uni students from mataa waka, Tuhoe, Taurangamoana, Ngapuhi, who made it their business to be there, excellent turn out of Rangatahi.

Angeline's background of the kaupapa of MANA and other Whanau gave their whakaaro on what they thought the policies meant to them.

I like what Whaea said about the pohara (poor), rawakore(destitute) and how it wasn't just about the "brown thread" from the first Maori king's talk. She talked about the coloured cotton red, black and white and THATS what MANA is about People of all race, colour thats why I am joining MANA.

It was good to see the bro's from the union there too and our pakeha whanau!

Some comments from tonights hui

Great hui tonight at Kirikiriroa...nga mihi to the Rangatahi who made it their business to be there tonight, absolute great turnout.

It is apparent that the Rangatahi are concerned and want to have a say in the future of their children and mokopuna.

Maata waka presence was STRONG and our community faces - the threads of the "Needle" are taking responsibility to shape this country to fit the needs of its people alike

It was cool to hui with the wider whanau tonight at the MANA Hauraki-Waikato, Kirikiriroa. It blew my mind away seeing all the rangatahi there.

Head count 42! Wow....this is the FIRST hui....imagine what the rest is going to be like....
There is definitely a "MOVEMENT across the nation happening!

The korero at the MANA Hauraki Waikato hui at Kirikiriroa tonight which brought Pakeha and Maori together as whanau on the MOOVE...great, trade unionist, seasoned activist moving together for right reasons.

This country is littered with poverty, no jobs, GST, we can't even afford veges anymore, jeez ONLY one way to go forward and that is with MANA in government.
